Graston Technique®

Dr. Emmett Hughes is the only certified Graston Technique® practitioner in the Huntington area. Graston Technique® is a unique and exciting way to treat soft tissue injuries. It is using stainless steel instruments to manipulate soft tissues. This includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, adhesions and scars.

Some of the conditions that respond well to Graston Technique® include tennis elbow (lateral epicondylosis), golfers elbow (medial epicondylosis), trigger points, scar tissue, adhesions, trigger fingers, contractures, plantar fascitis, sprains and strains.

Employed by chiropractors, physical therapist, physiatrists, and athletic trainers, it has been recognized as one of the most effective ways to treat soft tissues. Virtually every professional sports teams have been using this technique with amazing results.

Dr. Hughes has been using Graston Technique® for over ten years. He teaches soft tissue technique at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic; incorporating massage therapy techniques, post-isometric relaxation (PIR), post-facilitated stretching (PFS), Kinesio taping, and Graston Technique®. Conditions that have not responded to other forms of therapy often respond to Graston Technique®.

The Graston® instruments, which were developed by two physical therapists, are patented and have FDA clearance. The six instruments are designed to treat a variety of conditions. These include sprains and strains of the spine and extremities, plantar fascitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, tendonitis, fibromyalgia, scar tissue, shin splints and trigger points.

The results are amazing! Patients report an increase in function and decrease in pain, usually within one or two treatments. Not only are outcomes improved, but the number of treatments is actually reduced.
